It Adds Value

  • You can steam it out before you throw it out
  • It only sounds expensive until you learn how valuable it is
  • Time is money
  • The actual cost is a fraction of what you are spending on the present popular disposable cleaning chemicals

"When I was introduced to the Sargent I never thought I could afford one. Someone told me just to reposition my cleaning budget. Ya right. I looked at my budget and noticed what I was currently spending in cleaning chemicals a month. I was so surprised. I rearranged my budget and realized I was able to own a Sargent. Not only did I gain funds in my budget but I also gained time to spend with my family."

CLEAN THE FIREPLACE AND FIREPLACE FIXTURES

Old Way

Time allotted: 1 to 2 hours.

Tools needed: Ash vacuum, soft brush, tri-sodium phosphate, rubber gloves, newspaper or canvas drop cloth, razor blade, sponges, paper towels and cleaning cloths.

Scoop ashes into a paper sack and vacuum out corners. Spread a drop cloth to catch the runoff and clean soot from newer brick, stone, and tile with a soft brush and a solution of all-purpose cleaner and water. For thick creosote, wear rubber gloves and use TSP (tri-sodium phosphate is available in hardware and paint stores) mixed with water. Older brick (50 years old or more) should be vacuumed. Clean screen with a sponge or cloth dipped in a solution of all-purpose cleaner and water. De-grime polished brass tools with soap and water or brass polish, rinse and dry. Scrape soot from glass doors with a razor blade or scraper, and polish with glass cleaner as usual.

New Way

Time allotted: 30 minutes.

Tools needed: A Sargent Steam cleaner, hand soap, Orange Glow Power Paste, an ash vacuum, and paper towels.

Scoop ashes into a paper sack and vacuum out corners. Apply a little hand soap to the small detail brush and steam away the black grime from any fireplace surface including the brick mortar or tile grout. Sargent Steam vapor is only 10% moisture so there is very little dripping, and you can soak it up with a paper towel.

Rub a little Power Paste on the small detail brush to steam clean tarnished brass or chrome fixtures. Use the squeegee attachment to clean glass doors. Screens will come beautifully clean with the triangle brush wrapped with its cloth.
